Road Works

Temporary Road Closures are authorised by Hart District Council and full details of all closures can be found on the Hart District Council website.

Access for Pedestrians and Cyclists during closure of Station Road

From Friday 28 May Station Road will be open to pedestrians and cyclists during none working hours which are expected to be after 5pm Monday to Friday, after 1pm on Saturday and all day Sunday.

Temporary Road Closure - Old Potbridge Road

As part of the annual programme of works being undertaken by Operation Resilience, Hampshire Highways will be undertaking ‘Surface Dressing’ maintenance treatments to extend the life of the highway at Old Potbridge Road.

The treatment is applied to the existing road surface, sealing it from water ingress, which is a major cause of potholes, whilst also restoring any lost skid resistance. The process is fast, efficient, and extremely effective in ensuring that our road surfaces are kept safe and serviceable for the longest possible period, whilst using as few non-sustainable material sources as possible.

The works are now programmed to start within the next three weeks (from 16 May 2022).

These treatments are weather sensitive and part of a larger programme of works, meaning dates are susceptible to change. There may be times when works have to be postponed at very short notice; based on the latest weather forecasts.

Access for residents and businesses will be maintained when possible and safe to do so, pedestrian access to properties will not be affected, and emergency vehicles will have access at all times.

Roadworks - S278 Scheme (Brickyards Plantation - Pale Lane)

During 2018, work took place to revise the junction where Pale Lane meets the A323 Fleet Road, outside the parish boundary. After work commenced there was a long delay when a high voltage cable was found, and also there were errors in the drawings. The work was finally completed by the end of the year.

However, motorists turning into Pale Lane from the Fleet direction have lost the deceleration lane, and face an awkward turn into the lane. Winchfield Parish Council has made strong representations to Hampshire Highways for further work to be done at the junction.

Winchfield Parish Council lodged their concerns, in a letter dated 24 January 2019, to Stuart Jarvis, Director of Economy, Transport & Environment at Hampshire County Council. The response to those concerns, dated 25 February, was discussed at the Parish Council meeting held on Monday, 25 March. For your information, the full response is here.

50mph LIMIT ON B3016. Speed limit signs were put up on the B3016 Hartley Wintney to Odiham road on October 14, 2016. This came after more than 30 years of campaigning by residents and the parish council, but the limit stops for drivers from the Hartley Wintney direction just after the Beauclerk Green turning and therefore before the dangerous bend outside Dignity pet crematorium where a number of accidents have happened.

The issue was raised by residents at the Annual Parish Assembly on May 22, 2017, and the parish council agreed it will continue to ask the authorities to extend the limit.

Unfortunately, on the morning of Wednesday, January 10, 2018, there was a serious accident at the entrance to the pet crematorium involving a motorcycle and a car. All the emergency services attended and the 21-year-old motorcyclist was taken by air ambulance to St George's Hospital at Tooting.
